How does Viz use the dbt Semantic Layer?

Viz connects directly to your dbt Semantic Layer and reads the metrics defined in MetricFlow, along with their dimensions and verified join paths. Viz queries those definitions without bulk-importing source tables or duplicating your business logic. Query results may be saved in sessions, dashboards, and published snapshots. New queries use the definitions in your semantic layer; published snapshots retain their saved results.

What if we do not have a semantic layer yet?

Viz still works. Every plan supports CSV and Excel uploads. If you want to build the governed layer itself, Exmergo Dex is the open-source toolkit that authors and maintains your dbt models and MetricFlow definitions.

How does Viz stay consistent with our other tools and agents?

Because Viz grounds on the governed layer rather than on raw SQL, it starts from the same definitions as everything else that reads from that layer. Can I tell where a number in a dashboard came from?

Yes. Every answer names the metric definition it used and the join path it took, and every chart traces from the warehouse through the governed model to the dashboard. On Enterprise plans that trace is backed by RBAC, PII policy enforcement, and full audit trails.

Exmergo Viz offers Pro at $19/user/month and Ultra at $99/user/month, each with a 14-day free trial requiring a valid payment method. There is no free tier. Enterprise has custom pricing and unlimited users. Pro includes 1 dbt Semantic Layer per account; Ultra and Enterprise include unlimited semantic layers per account. Is my data used to train Exmergo's AI?

Exmergo does not use customer content to train its AI models on any Viz plan, including trials. This includes uploaded data, prompts, schemas, semantic metadata, query results, and dashboard and session content.
